Embassy Theatre
Site-specific projection, 2012
Site-specific projection, 2012
Embassy Theatre had the capacity to seat 1,700 people and was the last cinema to be built in Gillingham, Kent. Today the theatre’s original structure has been divided by a suspended ceiling.
What remains to the visitors is a darkened snooker bar with low ceilings and no trace of the Embassy’s former opulence. The desire to bring movement back into this dark, quiet space resulted in this ten-minute projection.
It is recommended that this film is watched in HD with headphones.
Inspired by the fine wires holding up the suspended ceiling, a sculpture was created to accompany the film.
And Only Fine Threads, perspex sculpture, 80 x 50 cm
