Updates
Nomad
At the end of the last year I launched my first project at Mnemoscene, a company I co-founded in 2017. Nomad is a collaboration with Abira Hussein.
Nomad is a Heritage Lottery funded project which premiered at the British Library and British Museum during Somali Week Festival 2018. Based around workshops engaging Somali communities in London, Nomad explores the creative use of HoloLens Mixed Reality and web-based technology to contextualise archival Somali objects with the people and traditions to which they belong. To find out more about the project, please visit our website for the project here
Since October we have toured the experience, held workshops, and delivered presentations at the following events and venues:
Talks
Sussex Humanities Lab at Brighton Digital Festival
The Immersive Storytelling Symposium
British Library Labs Awards – runner up in the Artistic Category
Metropolitan Archives London
Lighthouse – The Impossible Future of Immersion
Workshops and demonstrations
British Library
British Museum
Tower Hamlets Archives
Elay’s Network
Somali Week Festival at Broadway, Barking
A short teaser for the Mixed Reality experience can be watched below.
Warp and Weft
It’s been a pleasure making this short video for Warp and Weft composed by Colin Riley. Warp and Weft is a double cello concerto for Gabriella Swallow and Guy Johnston, premiered in Manchester Cathedral with the Manchester Camerata conducted by Gábor Takács-Nagy.

Archive as a place to play
I’ll be exhibiting Untitled 2016 at the Eye, Amsterdam alongside my colleagues from the AHK Master’s programme. This desktop video is the outcome of working with filmmaker Jyoti Mistry in response to the Eye institute film archive.
Research Blog
Since starting my Master’s at the Netherlands Film Academy (AHK) I have been directing my energy toward a body of research documented on a separate site.
The blog is currently private but I’d like to open it to people who have similar research interests and may be interested in sharing ideas and collaborating. Over the next few months I’ll be posting more information on this site however in the meantime please email me if you would like to find out more.
